What's a tween? A tween is a girl (or boy) who's around the ages of 9 to 13 years old. The term "tween" has come to signify young people between childhood and their teenage years; so tween girls are almost too old for dolls but sometimes too young for full-on makeup.

Most of these tween gift ideas are products recommended by teenage girls. Older tweens, like 11 year olds, often start to experiment with makeup, such as nail polish, lip gloss and mascara.
Other good beauty presents for tweens are light perfumes, hair jewelry, hair care products, and manicure supplies.
Nail polish and lip gloss are not usually a problem with moms, but check with the girl’s mother about gifts like mascara and eye shadow. In some parts of the country, all girls wear it, in other areas, the tweens wait until they are older. And, the use of makeup varies from girl to girl.
Nail Polish
Before girls become tweens they sometimes wear cute clear nail polish with colored sparkles. This type of polish is easy to apply and doesn’t show chipping. Look for something like “Untarnished Image” at Sephora by OPI.
Nail Color
Nail polish comes in so many colors now it’s become a fashion statement. Tweens tend to follow their favorite celebrities and they copy looks worn by music and TV stars like:

- Miley Cyrus.
Lately, these Disney-style pop divas have been wearing black, gray, extremely dark shades of any color, bright blue, and various shades of green nails.
Jewel tones, like emerald and ruby (not true red), are hot, as well as metallics (usually holographic flecks). And, while black or gray polish might sound awful to some women, these newer polishes have a depth of color seldom seen outside of the art world a few years back.

China Glaze
China Glaze is a newer brand of nail lacquer with many cute colors. This company has shades with great shiny finishes and they are reasonably priced considering the quality and hipness factor. Popular purple shades are Reggae to Riches (bluish), Purple Panic and Evening Seduction (plum). Unusual favorites with many teens are Recycle (gray with undertones), Wagon Trail (golden olive green), My Private Jet (holographic). For lighter colors, check out For Audrey (Tiffany blue) and Fairy Dust (glitter).

Lip gloss
Lip gloss is another makeup / beauty item that can be worn by almost any girl and Mac is considered a cool a good lip product.
